Refuse the lies.

A moment of prayer…

Sometimes we want to pray, but it is hard to find the words. “A moment of prayer…” posts allow you to borrow a prayer when you have no words of your own.

(Halee Wood journals many of her prayers. This prayer was originally prayed on 2/18/18 shortly after the shooting massacre in a Florida High School.)

Holy Spirit, fill me and intercede in my prayer.

Father, I come to You from a place of deep need… there is so much pain and suffering all over the world. I see it in our family, the needs posted on social media, the tragedies in this nation, in our world. The finger pointing, the sheer panic of not knowing what to do with terrorists, mass shooters, and plagues of health issues whose cause cannot be pinpointed. There’s hunger, mistreatment of human life, racism, poverty and death.

It all points to an enemy that wants to destroy us, feed us a notion that there is no hope… he wants us to believe that he’s winning and will win, and that the only way out is through our own innovation and ideas.

I will not believe these lies. I bow to You, the King of kings and Lord of lords. Not one ounce of this chaos and need is unknown to You. This is why You asked them to leave the Tree of Knowledge alone because You knew the consequences. Yes, we know the evil now in which You were trying to protect us. We pray over and over for our safety, but rarely do we yield to Your ways – which are the only ways that will protect us from the evil one. Oh, please forgive us, Lord!

Unite The church – O God! You told us that we would do greater things… Lord, rise us up on wings like eagles… No fear, no exhaustion, no anxiety – just a knowledge and understanding that we cannot lose this battle if we have You alone as our leader.

Father God, show us our purpose, give us our zeal. May we fight for all that matters. You are our comforter, healer, strength and shield.

Wake up, Church!

Father, How can this nation be restored without a united Church? Unite us, in Jesus name. Unite “my” church, then unite us to the other churches in the city, state, nation and world. You are God alone, from before time began; Creator of the moon and stars, lover of our souls.

Create in us a pure heart, O God, and a steadfast Spirit within us.

May the tribe of every nation speak Your name and Your glory. May we spit in the face of the enemy as we declare, “Victory is ours!” Praise and glory and honor to You, O Lord, forever and ever. Amen.
