The Lord’s Supper

When Jesus met with the disciples around the dinner table for Passover, He took the bread and wine, gave thanks, and then told the disciples to take of them remembering His body which "is given for you" (Luke 22:19) and His blood which "is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins" (Matthew 26:28). Throughout the New Testament, believers routinely meet and carry on the practice of breaking bread together to remember the sacrifice and victory of Jesus death and resurrection.

All over the world, we are united together as believers, worshipping and remembering in this manner. I hope complacency and redundancy do not fill your time of communion with your church family; instead may it be filled with a sense of humility, gratitude and celebration.

Below are links to Christian Standard Media, which published four communion meditations I wrote. You can use these as a reminder as the importance of communion in your own life, or they may be used in the worship service to prepare the congregation for the Lord's Supper. Enjoy and be nourished!

  • Unified Anthem - Read about the link between Queen's "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions" and the Lord's Supper.

  • The Radical Request - Jesus said many radical things in the Bible, read about His words that were incredibly difficult for His followers to swallow.

  • Spiritual MRI - Our time of communion acts as a spiritual MRI, revealing our need for a Great Physician who can heal the deepest parts of our being.
